Four steps of tumbling grit.
Step 1: 60/90 Silicon Carbide
Step 2: 120/220 Silicon Carbide
Step 3: 400/600 Silicon Carbide
Step 4: 12,000 White Fused Aluminum Oxide (Extreme Polish)
Kits are sold by tumbler size. Grit included uses the ratio of 1 ounce of each step 1 and 2 per pound of tumbler size and 1/2 ounce of each step 3 and 4 per pound of tumbler size. Example: A 10 pound rock tumbler kit will have 10oz of step 1 and 2 and 5oz of step 3 and 4.
We offer a full range of silicon carbide grit (36, 60/90, 120/220, 400/600, 1200 and 1500) and aluminum oxide grit (400/600, 1,200, 1,500, and 12,000).
These can be purchased individually in any weight denomination that fits your needs or we have pre-made kits for your specific size tumbler. We have kits available with or without plastic pellets(colors vary).
How much is in each grit kit?
The rule of thumb is 1oz of grit per pound of rocks you're going to polish for step 1 and step 2 and 1/2oz per pound for step 3 and step 4.
For example: A 30 pound grit kit doesn't not mean 30 pounds of grit. That would be 30oz of step 1, 30oz of step 2 and 15oz of step 3 and 15oz of step 4.
